Esta vez escribo acerca de un libro que me gustó y ayudó mucho con el trabajo: The Illusions of Entrepreneurship: The Costly Myths That Entrepreneurs, Investors, and Policy Makers Live By” de Scott Shane.

El mismo, como bien el título lo dice, desmitifica un monton de ideas y cifras que se utilizan para describir los resultados del emprendedorismo. Si bien todos los datos estan tomados de USA, seguramente los mismos sean aplicables a otros países. En sus propias palabras:

Entrepreneurship is central to the success of a capitalist economy. But the formation of the typical start-up is not. The fine print that many people seem to miss is that new company formation per see isn’t what matters; rather it’s the creation of a small number of super-high-potential new companies, which among them generate almost all the economic growth and job and wealth creation that comes from having an entrepreneurial economy.

Instead of believing naively that all entrepreneurship is good, we need to recognize that only a select few entrepreneurs will create the businesses that will take people out of poverty, encourage innovation, create jobs, reduce unemployment, make markets more competitive, and enhance economic growth.
